my status update:
"You will meet someone new and they will change your life! Whether it be romance, finance, religion, friendship or them introducing you to someone else. You know the friend of a friend thing? Seven degrees of separation? There is power in meeting someone new."-Kenneth Weins
Then someone told me to break it down...so here are some comments that I made:
1. do not dismiss homeless people or "crazy" people...you can learn from them....you can learn from everybody really....even children.
2. in the business world, I have read about several people who shared a business idea with someone else...the someone else actually had the money to get the business started...they became partners and the business exploded...examples are Apple Inc and Zappos.com
3. in romance...I hear several stories of "my best friend introduced us" or "my cousin was dating a guy, the guy had a friend, we went on a blind date...I fell in love with my cousin's boyfriend's friend...we eventually got married but those two broke up."
4. in religion, I hear someone who was fixing to commit suicide, but was introduced to a pastor...the pastor convinced the person not to commit suicide and later on the person even decides to become a pastor also.
5. you hear that saying "it's not what you know but who you know." there is a lot of truth in that! think about a job interview...the interviewer has two equally qualified applicants...but one applicant is his best friend...they knew each other for 15 years...he really trusts this guy...he knows he is dependable and right for the job...the interviewer is going to pick his friend 9 times out of 10...sorry to say that...but that is just how the world is. (how do you think George Bush Jr. became president? LOL)
6. I value human life. I meet interesting people all of the time. I do not use people. I do not meet people to get something from them. I meet people to hear their life stories and their experiences. I also try to be a ray of light in a sometimes dark world. I hope to motivate and inspire. I try to always stay positive (sometimes I fail at that though.)
