Job Interviews

Now-a-days, most job applications are done online. Employers never see you. You don’t get to make the first impression that helps you land a job interview. Employers can weed out many applicants just by glancing at a one page resume. That sucks!

Another thing that sucks is job interviews. I wish they were not necessary. How much can you really tell about a person in a ten minute time frame in a cramped, stuffy office?

Job “interviews” should last the whole weekend. The employer goes to your house, you go to their house, you go to the lake or a night club or some other informal setting. That’s how you see what a person is really like! How they treat their kids, spouse, parents, family, friends, strangers, waiters, etc. Does that person hold their liquor? Do they get angry, violent, or irresponsible when the drink? Are the likely to call in sick every Monday because they have a hang over?

Wait! Here is another idea: forget the interviewing process all together. I wish it really happened like this: Company has a job opening. They place a Now Hiring sign in the window. The first person to ask about the sign or the job opening gets the job. Hired right there on the spot. Now that would be awesome as a job seeker, but not to good for the employer. They could end up hiring a serial killer or something. BUT, then again, they have the same chance as hiring a serial killer just by spending ten minutes interviewing them in a cramped, stuffy office. You can spend your whole life knowing someone, but never REALLY know them.

Today:

I have a job, but they are making us take two weeks off from work while they fix the machines and remodel, etc.

I need to fill out some job applications, but I don't feel like doing anything today.

I want to apply at some temp services, but I am afraid they are going to send me to some sorry jobs!

It sucks being a responsible adult. There are a lot of times when you HAVE to do something even though you don't want to.

Well, I am fixing to venture out in this Texas heat...wish me luck.
