update from my last blog: I found some cheaper clothes. I returned the first set for a full refund. The second set only cost me $60 and I get two shirts with the second set. I am still looking for a job. I will not settle for just anything that comes along. I can afford to be a little picky right now.
Our air conditioner in our apartment went out last night. We decided to spend the night in a hotel, for the kids' sake.
Right now it is 11am. We came back to the apartment to see if the air conditioner is working. It is not working yet. We called the apartment manager. She said the entire apartment complex is without AC right now. Sooooo....we are fixing to go eat a buffet at Peter Piper Pizza and then we are going to go to Chuck E. Cheese to play games. Peter Piper's pizza taste better, but their games are more expensive. Most of their games cost 75 cents to a dollar per play. At Chuck E. Cheese, everyone of their games only cost 25 cents. It is those little things that help my family save money.
Speaking of saving money...twice this year we got invited to a "fancy restaurant" for a birthday party. We wanted to go to the party but we were on a tight budget. So we ate at the house before going to the party. At the party, my family shared an appetizer. So we did not look like total freaks by not eating anything at all. We blended right in with everyone else. We just told our friends that we were not that hungry at the time so we ordered something small.
Another way to save money: buy groceries and eat at home as much as possible. The money you spend on groceries can provide your family members 2-4 meals each. You spend the same amount of money eating at a fast food place or a "fancy restaurant" and you only get one meal (for each family member.) Also, a fancy restaurant costs 2-3 times higher than fast food. Here is how my family saves money at a fast food place. I order a combo meal and get it supersized. My wife orders a hamburger only. My whole family shares the fries and drink. Also, since my kids do not eat very much, we buy one kid's meal and let them share it.
